Jewel Basin

Last week we took a short trip to the northeastern shore of Flathead Lake, did a little camping at a state park, and hiked a bit in the Jewel Basin. For those of you who might not know, the Jewel Basin is a wilderness area located in, or real close to, the Bob Marshal Wilderness and is designated just for hiking. There's something like 25 lakes and over 35 miles of trails...............Most of them (as Cindy will gladly tell you) either uphill or downhill. We did take a few pictures...................

  1. Where's the picture of the massive grizzly bear mauling you, and Pudge with weapon drawn unloading sixteen rounds of lead into its hide? And what happened to your fierce backwoods protector, Bitsy? The lakes look majestic, but I'll bet the hike was a gruesome nine mile round trip... sounds like a lot of fun, and a fair share of whining!

  2. Wow...looks like a good warm up to the 40 miler from hell we're going to do next year. You know the one where I have to be the paramedic and probably carry to old dying fat guys out of the high country, fighting off grizzly bears, and trying to take once in a lifetime majestic photographs! And to the guy who posted the comment above...you better be careful because with your new job it will probably be you pumping sixteen rounds of lead into somethings hide. You know...the native wildlife of DC. That is of course unless they have you do the driving test before you start and they realize your giant uncoordinated feet are useless and you can't work a clutch. But hey, you can tell them you've run over everything west of the Mississippi and you sure would love the chance to see what you can mow down in the gangsta streets of DC. You'd be hell to deal with driving the getaway armored truck in first gear!!

  3. I would like to know who the two old fat guys that Joshua plans on carrying out of the mountains are. I would guess one might be his father. The other wouldn't be his Uncle Buck, would it?
